When should my newborn session be scheduled?

The ideal time to photograph a newborn is within the first 2 weeks after delivery. This is because during this time period the babies feeding and sleep patterns have been established, and more importantly, they still have that precious sleepy, dreamy, and curled up state that we adore so much!

How long will my newborn session last?

Newborn sessions usually last from 1 – 2 hours, depending on the temperament of your little one. This also allows time for feeding and changing.

How far in advance do I need to book my session?

Sessions can be booked at anytime but will depend on availability, however, it is encouraged to book your sessions at least 1 – 2 months in advance in order to reserve your date. Newborn sessions are booked according to the due date, with ample time allotted before and after the date in the event your little miracle can’t wait to arrive, or takes their sweet time coming out to meed the world.

What should I do if my baby is over three weeks of age?

After three weeks of age babies become less sleepy, tend to stretch out more rather than curl up, and are less flexible. This make it more difficult to achieve those sleepy, cuddly poses that all us parents love. As much as I’m sure you would hate to wait to take pictures, my professional advice would be to wait until approximately 4 months when your little one is able to push up on their tummy and hold up their head, or around 6 months when they can sit up on their own. This will yield some beautiful photos of your alert, smiling, giggling little one that you will love just as much as the newborn photos, I promise!

Where is the photos taken?

Nicole D. Brown Photo goes to client's home or location of client's desire. This makes the picture taking process easier for new parents. Everything that is needed for their little one is already there. Babies and children are more comfortable in their own environment and the photographs show that.

Who can I bring to my photo session?

Nicole D. Brown Photo welcomes and encourages both parents to participate in the photo session. If there are brothers and sisters in the family, they are welcome as well for no additional fee.

Can I take my own pictures during the session?

I respectfully request that you do not take your own pictures during the session. This will prove to be a great distraction for me and I want to make sure I maintain complete focus on your baby.

What do I need to bring to my newborn session?

You and your newborn! All props, backdrops, etc are provided by Nicole D. Brown Photo. If there are specific items or outfits that you would like to incorporate into the shoot, feel free to bring those as well. In addition, if bottle feeding, please bring enough formula to last for at least 6 hours, as well as sufficient pampers and other supplies you would normally travel with for a newborn.

What will I be doing during the session?

Relaxing!

What if I am breastfeeding?

I am 100% in support of breastfeeding and moms are able to feed their little ones. For those moms that pump, I welcome that as well.
